Designed for Fuga Furniture in 2015, the Fuga Bookcase explores rhythm through structure. Repeating diagonal steel elements define both the construction and the visual identity of the piece, creating an open shelving system that balances stability, transparency and display.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Fuga Bookcase was developed around a simple structural principle. Repeating steel frames support a series of wooden shelves while creating a continuous visual rhythm across the entire composition. Rather than concealing the supporting structure, the design makes it the defining architectural element of the piece.

The open configuration allows books and objects to become part of the overall composition without overwhelming the structure itself. The alternating diagonals introduce movement and depth while maintaining visual lightness, allowing the bookcase to function as both storage and room divider.

Designed with a restrained material palette of steel and wood, the project combines structural clarity with a timeless aesthetic. The result is a shelving system that emphasizes proportion, balance and openness while adapting to different interior environments.
